Oh sheesh. I guess I missed that chapter of the Trucker Bible. "Handles are earned".

Perhaps if people stopped trying to control others it might just be a nicer world to drive in.

My handle at age 18 was "The Farmer's Daughter". Why? Because my Daddy had a farm. Now, should I still use that handle? I don't think so.....I'm 53. I'm Texas-Nana. I chose it, I like it. I'm proud to be a Nana and I'm proud to be a Texan.

But hey..............shame on me I should have waited until some god-like creature with an over inflated ego decides what he/she should call me on the CB?

    I don't think so.

Anyone who thinks they have the right to set "rules" about others choice of something like how they get their CB handle might just "earn" a new handle from others.

Your entitled to your opinion and or interpretation of what I posted,
If it were the broad side of a barn you wouldn't have much of a chance of hitting it either.:biggrin_25525:
    Nobody is controlling,nor attempting to.
Please dont confuse nicknames with Trucking CB handles.

Your attempted foot-stomping doesn't work here,
Guess I need to read abit of the Texas Nana Bible to glean clues as to where the cyber social club hierarchy of noble truckers get to roll with the angels.Must really be something to truck with the angels on highways of gold while the rest of us cut our living on asphalt.

    Oh Sheesh . . . . :biggrin_25526:

Ahhh but you were the one to say handles are "earned". Not me. I personally love the story of where yours came from but that doesn't mean everyone has to get theirs the same way.

Now the fact that you've reacted so greatly to my post speaks volumes. By the way, your attempt to belittle me and your attempt to make it seem that I hold myself above others is demeaning to yourself not me.

You sure do get your scooby doo under roos in a twist when someone disagrees with you. I do enjoy the intellect of your ranting though.

Yeah but we know you have to "Win" or . . . . . .
Take abit of the "weight" off the word "earned" and you'll have a better chance of understanding the context it was first used.

I understand it may be hard for those that weren't around
20 years ago,the entire mind-set,belief system etc wasn't valued like it is today.
Pride had a different meaning and folks took things in stride.
Now Pride is an entitlement and its a sad state of affairs

Belittle you ? Oh My! now your a "Victim" :biggrin_2559:
    Sue Me . . . . . . .

I have to "win"? I wasn't aware we were in a contest. So since we are: you win. Feel better?

As to my being your victim..........not even close. I'm nobody's victim.

I just find it weird that you seem to be so angry with me. Mind sending me a pm and explaining why? Perhaps I missed something on another day?

As to pride and respect: perhaps you might want to give a guy a chance before condemning him just because he wanted a CB handle. just a thought.

My handle/nickname is "Sarge". Reasons: Retired NCO 22 yrs and...

Our garage foreman was a reservist 1st Lt. One day he witnessed my dressing down a tire guy (who really deserved it). He came over and told the Mech "You've just been butt-chewed by a Sarge". Kinda stuck after that....

So I kinda fit in the Given/Earned catagory.

I don't guess it really matters in the end, especially if you're 48-state OTR and meet new people all the time. I mean, how are they gonna know whether you earned or chose your handle?
Of course, if you're going by one of those billybadass handles most of us tried on as juveniles, it may seem poseur-ish, but then again it mighta been tongue-in-cheek, too.

So, I don't worry about it. If someone identifies himself as Billy-Bob-Whoop-Azs... I'll shrug and accept it.

    FriedTater Thanks this.

In the 21st century, "Wild Bill" Hickok wouldnt really have to be wild? And Richard Petty would never have to win a race to be the "King"? And Andrew Jackson could have been timid but still be "Old Hickory"? And "Tex" Cobb could have had a glass jaw? And Johnny "Guitar" Walker didnt have to play a stringed instrument?

Does that mean that "Big" George Foreman could have been a midget?
