How heavy are the Cats compared to the Detroit's?
-
If I remember a complete cat weighs about 3000 lbs Detroit I don't know.Straight Stacks Thanks this.

I just passed 864k on my C15. If it makes it to 1 million miles it will be the first one ever to make it without having the head removed even. We are never under 80k unless we are empty. most of the time we spend right around 100k plus.
Oh, and I was grossing 200k+ when an intake actuator decided to crap out on me. Still made it the 250 miles to the delivery location.peterbilt_2005 and Superhauler Thank this. -
I'm having some custom work done to my head that is supposed to cure the head gasket issue. Will post picks when I get it back next week. It is costing $1500 extra to do. But from what I have seen from the results is well worth it.Straight Stacks Thanks this.

I have a 97 379 with a Detroit in her. Ive giving the Detroit some love and she treats me right day in and day out. The Detroit may not be the big dog on the block compared to cat and cummins but shes reliable and goes to work when i put her to work.
Straight Stacks Thanks this. -
So is it fair to say that if I do end up with a cat it should be a 3406e due to the head issues of the C15?
-
The shop here told me its a "fill in" process to add more surface area to the head/gasket surface.
-
Yes but I'm also doing another step to the head that involves the fire ring area.Straight Stacks and peterbilt_2005 Thank this.
