Wow. Thanks everyone. I'm gonna see if this will help him. He mentioned something about a KW W9. I don't know if he wants it new or used but what are your thoughts on the W9 vs the modern tractor like the T680? Ride wise, vision when backing etc? This is just for me now.![]()

I do like the older w9. pre I think 04...the newer ones have set back dash gauges and all just don't like the dash layouts...and I like switchs not rockers....long noses normally ride better vison is reduced by the nose but you get use to it backing the same deal

Okay thanks. That's helpful. My instructor swore by the W9. He pulled a flatbed with his. He was an o/o.

I will say the biggest thing I Hate about a w9 or most any kenworth before wide bodies which don't have a hood so wont be in my yard, is that step down going into the bunk. I catch my big feet on it all the time....plus with my classic I have more leg room driving

I have been truck shopping a lot lately. I went to (my gauges.com)and pulled a bunch of w9's and t660's took the fuel mileage of both for about 20 trucks. I came up with a 1.2 mpg difference between the two models. If I were just starting I would forget all the mods and unusual setups and just go with raw numbers. As much as I love the w9 it does have one of the worst mpgs I've found in my search of my next truck. Good luck

My personal opinion is a KW is ok but I think a Freightliner is more driver friendly, but at the same time I love my 379.Now having said that I havent ever drove some of these newr style trucks I'm speaking bout classics. As far as backing up a truck they all take a lil getting used to finding their turning radius and blind spots and how to compensate for them. A lil time in the seat and it will be ez to do
