True, some people do meet someone like you and their impression of truckers is permanently skewed. Fortunately you are no more an example of the average truck driver than you are of the average Canadian.

Lowboy,
We still don't have the volume of freight that the states has,and never will. -
you say you put down 35,000 and you still have that big of a truck payment? I have put down 35,000 or more on trucks and my payments were about half that. You say you paid 145,000 all done, I hope that means that includes taxes and everything else, cause if it isn't you paid about 25,000 too much.
I really hope you have a good paying contract for that truck cause most of these companies like Bison and Trans x only pay 1.05 per mile for single drivers and maybe 1.24 for teams, not big money.
it doesn't matter which of these companies you work for, it all works out to the same thing. One pays plates and insurance but they rip you off in the mile rate. All the recruiters at these companies talk to eachother, they all know what each company is paying.
I think he should have done some research first before buying that truck, it would make more sense to find a good contract, figure out your costs and figure out how much money you need to make, and then buy the truck, he doesn't even know how much he pays for plates,
but what do I know, I guess I am just a dummy. -
We operate a lot of LCV's and Super B's and all kinds of milti axles that the US doesn't.
