I recently failed a DOT physical for vision issues. Had a cataracts in both eyes. The left one was fixed, went from 20/80 to 20/20. Right eye still needs do,e but I passed the 20/40 standard with it. If your eyes are not correctable to 20/40, you will not pass a DOT physical. And from what I understand, vision waivers are not available for newer drivers.to apply for and be granted a vision waiver, you had e to be able to demonstrate a history of safe driving with the vision issue already existing. You also will not be granted a waiver if the condition is repairable, like a cataract. The DOT will just expect you not to drive until you get the issue fixed so you can pass. Good luck.
Help with my DOT physical
