I have received offer as recent CDL school offer from Schneider for regional acct 11 days on 3 off paying 49 cents mile and offer says average miles week is 1500 and on duty pay 10 dollars hour. Just by looking that is not a lot money if you take 1500 x 49 cents. Trying to figure out if I’m adding something wrong but how can a regional driver only get 1500 miles average a week and they say your out 11 days. What am I missing? Or any advice would be appreciated.

Oh so offer letter is only for training and not the actual job? That would make sense

It’s not allot of money. The fact is, you are a huge liability. Not you personally specifically , or maybe you are..but a new driver. You will not work as productive, you are at a very high chance of breaking things or getting the company sued. You are basically a trainee for a while. If they paid you fantastically, and you had all the liabilities that cost money and are not productive like an experienced driver the company would be out of business.. Then you wouldn’t even have a job offer at all. Take the opportunity, in a year jump to something that requires more skill, such as open deck. And usually around the two year mark many doors open, and you can prove your employer that you can them money as you are consistent. if you desire you will make over 100 K consistently, especially in food service or in industrial hazmat positions. These positions require you to do more than just steer a truck around. They will pay you well for your efforts. We all started somewhere. There are some companies that will take you on with a mentor and give you more responsibility and pay. Some open deck, companies like TMC or food service. if you just want to focus on operating the truck in the beginning, take the Schneider job. Realistically you’re not gonna work at that position for the rest of your life. as he is you get more skills you will want more responsibility. -And there is very little to be expected of at Schneider. When it comes to extra responsibilities.

You aren't about to set the world on fire running regional for a mega your first year. Your best, or should I say most surefire shot to make decent coin with a mega or mega capable carrier is to go OTR your first year. Local and regional jobs get more accessory pay as opposed to mileage. That's probably the base. There's stop pay, detention pay, overtime involved I'm sure.

This is for Camping World. Lots if time spent unloading the truck. Probably 6 to 8 hours a day unloading the truck, 3 stops a day. Rough numbers 1100 to 1300 a week before deductions. Physical job, so if you are not in to that, you will want to pass.
