What company is this your a trainee for? From the stories I hear as a CDL instructor, I guess Werner. Trainers with les than 6 months expierence === a two man operation not trainer /student situtation. You DO NOT HAVE TO PUT UP WITH IT.

What week of training are you in? If it's week three of five. Most trucking Co. Are ok with that. As far as texting while driving, come on that just common sense...

He's putting both your lives in danger.

Sleeping when you drive, what did they say in orientation? How many hours does the trainer need to watch while you drive? If he just threw you in the driver seat, not good.
    Texting while he's driving.... illegal.
Technically, talking on phone while driving is illegal for truckers.
Driving on your clock, no way, illegal.
How long have you been on the truck?
How much instruction have you received in...
    backing into docks at customers?
    going into customers by yourself?
How often do you stop to eat and/ or shower?
Does your trainer explain, or just get impatient and want to run miles?

If y ou can ,take pics of him texting while driving WITHOUT HIM SEEING YOU.
    He already knows it's illegal.
Get off the truck. Not all trainers are like that.
    Good luck.

i bet you new year new law truckers key on, belt on phone off truckers will no longer be able to talk on their cell phone while driving even if you have a headset, headphone or bluethooth. Im just waiting for the govt to say it and they will be like safety reason

Sleeping while you drive: It depends on your companies training policy. Some company’s never allow their trainers to sleep while you drive, others do after a week or so, and there may be some companies that leave it up to the trainer from the start. You would need to look at your companies training policy to know if it is allowed and under what conditions it is.

    Texting while they drive:
Never! This is not a company policy issue, it is against the law for any commercial driver to text while they drive.

    Driving on your clock:
This is also never allowed regardless of what company you are with. HOS rules are defined by the feds and no one can drive using your Hours of Service other then you.

How can people get a CDL without knowing most of this?

Get a new instructor. Report this, get off the truck at the terminal.

im an instructor at Prime, we need to get these bad instructors out of the program.

i can't say they will pull his instructor status, but if not they will certainly keep a closer look at this guy.
