Day 2 or 3 I would have said hey either I get a shower or I need to call the company. 28 days with no shower, are you crazy ?
I say post the company name and the guys name, that's just wrong !

Bud, how much is your CDL worth? your future driving career? your LIFE?
This "trainer" is nothing more than a glorified steering wheel holder who is in it for the money! A good trainer cares about you, himself, the rig, the general motoring public, the customers where you pick up and deliver...every aspect of driving! Is there money to be made as a trainer? Of course, but you don't train because of the extra money. You train because you want to make the industry better. That's why I became a trainer years ago. Even though I no longer train now, if there are new drivers that come to the company where I work, I take a vested interest in seeing that they do well and I go out of my way to help them know what to expect.

But now with this idiot yelling at you because you want to take a shower that you haven't had in the last 28 days, that's the last straw for me. I shudder to think what the inside of that cab smells like. YUCK! He has no dignity or respect for himself, much less for you! Yelling at you indicates that he has no self control and has lost control of himself. The road is stressful enough but he's making it worse.

And now let's couple this with running on your books, texting while driving, and everything else that could go wrong IN YOUR NAME. Do you really want that? You could be finished with driving before you even have a chance to get started.

Please do us all a favor. Report this chump IMMEDIATELY to your company and get off his truck. He doesn't need to be placed in a trainer situation; he needs to be taken off the road. You deserve BETTER than this. Keep your cool but find the best place to get out of his truck and get placed with someone who respects you, himself and everyone around y'all.

Please keep us posted and all the best to you.

I don't know exactly how it works at Prime, but I intend to be straightforward with any potential trainer - I'm not going to start violating federal laws/regulations before I even have a license. Don't bother letting me on your truck if that's how you operate.

Sounds like Prime ? If youre home for Christmas break ,I would nicely ask your recruiter or dispatcher for a different trainer. Him running on your log? So if something happens is he going to tell you to jump up in the seat? Is he speeding all the time on your clock? Dont put up with his BS.Dont go back out on the road with him. JMA

Good deal. I don't wish the guy fired but he should get the boot from training. But it's not my decision.

I've heard of instructors/trainers getting banned from training for 6 months to year. Even if he doesn't, it will be on file and he knows hes on the radar and think twice about doing it to another student.

I'm in Springfield to. Too bad your PSD, Prime throws one he'll of a Christmas party on Friday night. Students and Trainees can't drink so don't get caught up in that unless you get it straight from Safety's mouth that there is an exception for this one night for you and any of your trainee buddies.

Anyone who attends can't drive on Sat. I've got a load out that I pick up tommorow. However it's not due in Denver till Monday. So I might go to the party and leave Sunday after they lift the ban.

Worse: you can drive STONED better than you can trying to text.

Otoh, I don't think talking on the phone with a headset is such a problem--despite the fact that it's been shown since the military's ergonomics research from the '50s that just the act of talking takes up 40% of available brain power.

Ironically, doesn't the DOT still allow unlimited talking on CB???

Funny how prime makes a big deal of checking and interviewing drivers for any criminal past, and for honesty.... When the recruiters can't practicee it themselves. :biggrin_25520:

    Hey JP,

Believe I met you Christmas morn. & you were first few days PSD with Instructor. If it was, there were additional issues. Definitely bad situation & hope you were able to have a discussion that worked. If not, you need another instructor. Mine was rather pissed when I related situation and said same.

Hope you worked things out. You need to learn & you both deserve to be safe.

Edit: Just saw in other thread you got new instructor. Sure things will go much better now. Good luck!

Get a new trainer. These companies do have good trainers. Explain how you don't feel SAFE(keyword) with the way your current one teaches.

Ideally, try to get routed back to your home terminal so you can chill at home till your new one comes.
