Ok so I’m new to this site and very new to the cb radio. My pops has been driving for 30+ years and I have been local for 10yrs but I haven’t done anything with a cb. So I bought 2 4ft fire sticks which for what I want will work perfect. I bought a cobra 29nw Ltd classic and an swr meter. Now I am tuned to the point where I am 1:1 and I’m not sure if either truckers just don’t talk much in my area which is Kansas City or if I have something screwed up. If someone could help me that has experience but at the same time could explain it to me in ####### terms I would greatly appreciate it
Help!!!

Squelch fully open (left)
Gain fully open (right)
On “CB” not “PA”
Mike gain (Dynamike) full right
Etc. Per manual (see also website CBRadioMagazine for review of your unit)
Should be able to “hear”. Transmit can be more of a problem.
Does the built-in speaker work? (Static noise changes when adjusting RF Gain or Squelch)
Does keying the mike cause a change in what’s heard (cuts off sounds)?
Antennas are mounted in a fashion as you see others do on a big truck? Coaxial cable without damage as you can see it? Not pinched or torn; terminations aren’t loose; coming off.
Can you borrow a known working Radio to substitute? Only takes a moment.rabbiporkchop Thanks this. -
Did you get this worked out?
