I have a really old Herd on mine. I don’t have the slam latch. Mine has the two eyebolts with a pin as described above. Haven’t hit anything yet but it is a beast.
I could add a slam latch if I wanted and may someday. It would definitely make it more convenient.
I’ve seen the Ali-Arc up close and in comparison I’d buy a Herd. However I’d take any of them over a trashed radiator, charge air cooler or AC parts etc.
I am not sure what weight is added. Truck is 20600 without headache rack on it with herd 94’ 379 -
I hit a very large deer in Avon, MT a few weeks ago. Hit at approx 58-60 mph. not a scratch on the bumper. spun it around and flipped into the ditch.

So, I made a decision on April 25th. It came 2 weeks ago. $6500 delivered. With slam latch. And center tow pin. Herd it is.
