It will never happen since they will mess up on construction roads that force you to drive on the shoulder or on the other side of the street. Computers lack the intelligence to make good decisions when something new is thrown at them. Trains could be automated but still have a driver behind the wheel just in case. If anything we will get paid less and just sit and stare out the window and switch to manual mode when needed. Just in case I am wrong, get fired, or get burned out of driving, I plan to pay off my house very soon so then I can just work a regular lower paying job and still be well off since all I would have are my utility and tax payments.

 

I think the robots that will be needed to chain, strap and tarp will add too much weight and wind resistance to the trucks. But the Guacamolians will still work cheaper than Amercanos.

 

Yes and when that happens I'm going to build a bunker...because after computers start driving trucks it's only a matter of time before we get a maximum overdrive situatuion...or a situation like Terminator. Seats in the bunker will be free for a truck driver and his family...and I'm thinking $100 for a four wheeler...and a whopping $50,000,000 for the idiot scientists that decided to use this technology.

 

Will never happen, driving is not the only thing we do. Fuel, open doors, tarp, paperwork, air in tires, swap trailers, etc....

 

Now cars that drive themselves could be a good thing.
The passengers could text all they want and the car won't be pulling suicide moves to get on and off exits,lane changes,ect........Actually the cars could be way smarter than many drivers...

 

T1000s will drive T2000s right after Skynet goes online.
