I plan on shutting down unless a good paying load needs hauling.
SavageMuffin Thanks this. -
I think those are code-talker rhetoricisms........ probably has something to do with prescription painkillers, dimentia, and what way the wind blows across that one stray hair on your ###.
We aren't crazy enough to understand it.Dumdriver, 7-UP, Sirscrapntruckalot and 1 other person Thank this. -

Sirscrapntruckalot - Oddly...when looking for popcorn gifs...an apple cobbler one keeps popping up. Must be a sign. (Pun wasn't intended, but eh...consider it a freebie)Swiss Mountain Dog Thanks this. -
I dont run hard . Lucky to do 110,000 miles a yr. My current truck is 3yrs old. i have 202,563miles on it. Im a short haul high rev driver. Brokers just dont pay enough over 500mi. 1200 mi rates drop .50mi all across the country you see the trend in numbers. I find an area and milk it . Some like east some midwest some southeast. But you venture out of those areas to another you lose. Because the shippers dont wanna pay . Lol

Not every aspect of trucking works the same. It's not so much about elogs or working hard but they need to fix the 14hr clock issue when it comes to those of us who get stuck at shippers and receivers for ungodly amounts of time..
You can easily get stuck at a food warehouse for 5hrs or more.. You aren't working that 5hrs, might not even get paid detention yet its sucking your 14hr clock dry because even though you might of slept 5hrs it's not a official break.
If they would simply pause the 14hr clock when you are in the sleeper I'd have zero issues with the hours of service rules..
As it is now you are forced to run the moment your clock starts and have no options to tailor your time to fit the needs of your loads. -
Oh boy here we go again. Wasn’t their a few “shut downs” in 2018 already that haven’t don’t a dang thing to change the laws? I think one was in Florida and another were trucks circling a capital building somewhere ? Both got their 15 min of fame on the news and it was forgotten about the next day.
4,000 trucks supposedly are nothing , someone will pick up the slack and haul it for cheap. To the 4 wheelers it will be a few less trucks doing their side by side turtle races for miles and maybe open up a few parking spaces.
Company drivers will more then likely get the can and have another warm body in the seat before the ink is dry on their termination paperwork, L/O drivers most of them are barely making their truck payments the way it is and can’t afford to shut down.
It’s already been said but until companies shut their trucks down it’s not gonna make any kind of impact. But only 4,000 trucks is a small drop in a big lake of trucks . -
Which is why they are amending the split sleeper provision. We won’t know anything until it’s published but the talk is that a minimum of three hours in the sleeper will stop the 14 hour clock.Oxbow and KANSAS TRANSIT Thank this.

I lost a Hot Tub shipper due to another broker coming in and saying they will haul it for less... I was doing great for like 3 months then one day I'm cut off... It wasn't worth it to underbid that guy... I don't know how some drivers make it on the cheap rates.

The stuff on their list.....
3. The original ELD mandate was for people with severe and repeated hours of service violations. But OOIDA got it stopped. So now this group wants to redo the mandate so that it fits what they want?
4. The last thing the industry needs is the government involved with shippers and receivers.
6. They want truckers involved with any new regulations when truckers have shown by lack of participation before that they don’t care about new regulations until it’s too late. -
i don't think they do...i think they under cut for at least 2 reason..
1) to pay for the fuel, maybe thier food?...certainly not enough to make most truck payments..???
2) to get to a better paying area.TGUNKEL Thanks this. -
3) they think that $1.20 is great money and they don't know any better...skinnytrucker79, 06driver and buddyd157 Thank this.
