Yes. But from what you posted is what I questioned.

    Quote.
I dropped that load in the yard because it doesn't deliver 20 miles away until the 21st, so they found me another load heading out tomorrow morning for Sacramento, PA, to deliver Saturday morning. It's only spuds, but that's usually around $1.50 or so per mile. After that, I have no idea, but I'm not supposed to be home until Thursday. We'll see.....

Ah, ok. To clarify, "the yard" is head office, back up here in New Brunswick. I'm headed to PA, then reloading somewhere around Philly on Saturday afternoon to come back home. If that goes according to plan, I'll be dropping that wagon at the yard as well on Sunday night or Monday morning, then spinning back out again until Thursday night.

I don't do point-to-point in the US... that is blatantly illegal. One load going south, then a load back to Canada. That's the way the regs say it has to be. I was under the impression that any US carrier delivering in Canada can reload up here to go back south to the US. I have never spoken to a US driver up here who wasn't allowed to reload in Canada to get back home.

I was just clarifying the wording on yours.

I delliver RV's and therefore I do not usually have a return load back across the border.

With the credit rating you have why not buy a trailer? You would easily pay for a used trailer and then put that rental fee in your pocket.Your rental fee was almost $1000.00 I cant imagine that a used trailer payment would even cost you 500.00

Bulk products are easy to move... but it gives your shovel a good workout...

Never be afraid to tell the shipper where you want your weight... they are pretty sharp on getting it right. And most bulk loads pay by the hundred weight... so the more you haul the more you make. Most of my loads REQUIRE at least 46k in the box or you are docked for a light load... just something to think about for your next load.

Ok, so from Sacramento, PA, I went and reloaded in York with household cleaner for the Zeller's DC in Montreal. Not sure about this exact load, but the Zeller's contract is usually around $1.77/mile. From there, over to Boucherville to grab 51,000 pounds of yogurt, headed back for the yard, since it doesn't deliver in Debert, NS until the coming Monday. That's on a Loblaws contract, so pays around $2.30/mile.

As far as getting my own wagon, the only problem with that is it ties me to every load I take from start to finish. Most of the time, I come back to the yard, go home for a couple of days, and head south again, while a company truck finishes the last leg of the load.

As far as the bulk load of sweet potatoes goes, I have no control over how much product they load me with. I can only haul what the customer purchase, in this case 22 large bins worth.

A bulk load would actually be on the floor and loaded with a conveyor belt... so you get a pass on that one......

LOL good to know. They loaded me by putting the bins in the trailer then tipping them over. Real high tech operation.
