Well it looks like USx is out. Got a call last nite from CR England. They want me to go to orientation on 4-14-08. I've read all the posts about England and I realize that they are not the most popular company out there, BUT Its been almost two months since I Graduated from drivers school and I'm getting anxious about my chances to get on with a half way decent carrier. Considering I have been on disability for four years and the accident in July I might have to put up with the BS for a bit until I get some experience under my belt. Any thoughts? I just want to drive and get out on the road. I think I can take a little crap for a while. I THINK. Any comments would be welcome. positive or not so positive. Thanks everyone!:biggrin_25520:

The way I see it is; you have to start somewhere!! Go with who will take you and get some time under your belt. While out there on your own talk to other drivers and get as much info as you can on other companies then if things aren't working out at CR England move on. No matter who you are with there will be BULL-#### you will have to put up with.

I work for Roehl and they have a good rep on this web site and on the road as well. But they also have BULL-S##IT that drivers have to deal with as well. Yes they seem to be a good company to work for so far but I still see the same Dumb, this doesn't make sence to me dispatch happening at Roehl as well. They also like all other companies do have, I'm a cheap tight ### company attituide.

We as drivers for Roehl are also seeing the mile getting longer from point to point and not getting paid for it. Looks like they are slowly going back to HHG mileage pay. Directions aren't the best either and night and weekend dispatch is getting worse.

My point is to you: No matter who you work for Large, Small, Union, Non Union, company the trucking industry has a lot of BULL-#### that you will have to deal with, some people deal with it better than others. Stay positive keep a good attitude and things will turn out for the better. What I do is take it day by day and deal with the BULL-#### as it comes cause I know it will, the best that I can with a good attitude. If it gets to bad for me at Roehl then I know that I can go where ever I want that is what makes it nice!!

My rule is that if I pu a load in the yard and it is heavy and no scale ticket copy was left to prove it is legal. Then I scale the load before I cross a state scale or I don't pu the load. It is the responsibility of the driver who pu a load to scale the load and make it legal before crossing a state scale, not the company's.

Having worked for USX for many years I also know that if you scale a load and it can't be made legal without reworking the load and the shipper is not near the drop point they will either send you to another dock to make it legal, or pay the fine.

I used to pu loose recyclables in Florida that would shift in transit and they payed the over axle on every one. I've called before I have crossed scales and had them fax a release of driver liability for overweight fines if I had knowere to scale before crossing. The key is that you have to set it up in advance of getting a ticket, because like they said, "it's your baby" after.

You live in Florida, so you have one big strike against you already. It's easy to get something going into Florida, but can be tough to get a load out. I'd call Crete if I were you and see what they tell you. That's a good outfit that may take you on. If they don't want you, check your yellow pages for trucking companies and start calling. You may even give Shaeffer a call. That outfit is CCC's reefer division, and I've heard they're pretty good.

Go with CRE as an absolute last resort. To be honest, you should chuck driving and learn a new skill if your only choice is CRE. I've read CRE has turnover that is nearly twice the national average, which is already outrageous. Those guys don't have such high turnover for nothing. There are good reasons for it.
