Doesnt suprise me. Sadly a lot of states still refuse to pull these rigs in and there are thousands. Likely 10s of thousands as bad or worse running around.

 

What I don't get is why doesn't the carrier's authority get shut down over this? These aren't small issues that happened recently. Shut down every piece of equipment until they've been inspected by a certified mechanic, audit the logs compared to the BOL compared to the invoices for every driver for the last 2 months, audit the employment records (i-9s, employment classification, lease documents, etc).

If it was just a tire, or an air leak, or even a couple three little things - fine. But this should result in a majorly invasive investigation.

 

Do it like Ontario, I recall a small fleet owner leased to us who's one truck got popped in Sarnia, ON coming back to Chicago area from Toronto.

Truck went right to a fenced impound lot, remove the registration plates and the owner given 24 hours to have an outside repair come in and correct the issues.

After 24 hours they would send the registration plates back to the state of issue.....

i thought for sure when he stuck his head under the cab we'd see a hole and a #### covered underside .
