Jim,
I just had an Epiphany and realized Swift has Sears dedicated in your area from their OH terminal. That there would be sweet as you can home weekly or sometimes pass through the house. Schneider has dedicated too. Can give us an idea where in OH you are located? It would help us assist you better in your search.

Thanks for all the leads KH, you've been a huge help so far. I'm in Columbus, OH at the moment, finishing up school, but my permanent address is Youngstown, OH (northeast). Relocation isn't a big problem for me though.
I've been searching the classifieds as I look for work, and I've seen C.R. England is advertising to bring on new drivers in Columbus, but I've heard nothing but bad news about them. I've heard Schneider is good though.
I am wanting to sign myself away to a carrier and get my CDL through them though. It would be nice to go through an independent school to get my CDL, but I'm tapped out and don't have a spare 3-5k.kickin chicken and Baack Thank this. -
Nearly every school has in house financing but see if local CC will finance you as you can choose whoever you want to go with. Schneider has tanker and solo opportunities from Youngstown. Out of Franklin you have more opportunities with Schneider.

Welcome Jim, The help you have already received is just standard procedure, I hope you make a go of it. Trucking is a good career to get into, I have read loads of good stuff here, Keep a positive attitude and you will make it, Be careful of who you go with, There are companies that will treat you a little better then others but there are companies that will work for one person and not the next. I wish you luck, If there is anything any of us can do just hit us up. Thanks. TD.

Spot on and could not have said it better myself. SNI is one the better ones I have heard. Check out Grc56 posts as he went from Roehl to SNI and liked the change. Be careful not to do job hoping during your first year and avoid it if possible. Try to work your issues out before you job hop.

I just wanted to update all the kind folks who provided me with such great information, if anyone should happen to check this thread again. I ended up training for a CDL with Central Refridgerated out in Salt Lake City, UT. I earned my CDL, spent a month on the road with a trainer, and got assigned a truck! I had some maintenance problems, but I'm at the terminal awaiting my first load!
Thanks again all for your help!bullhaulerswife Thanks this. -
Very cool! Keep us updated on your adventures out there. And be safe! Glad you'll be rolling down the roads.
