    Well, let me see here.

At this moment it's a CAT factory flash file in the ECM, so you tell me which it is

Sounds like my truck, is that 700rpm idle or 600? The Coga trucks sound a bit different, they sound more like they're firing on 3 cylinders. They idle very slow.

Did you wash the truck before this video? Lol

Have you looked at the trucks they have to drive in Europe?

I'd be pissed off all the time too...:biggrin_2559:

Let’s put things in perspective Lenny.
This truck was street able prior to these injectors and pulled some 1300HP ATW on its last dyno run. You can do the math’s but that’s not bad HP at the Flywheel.. Now I guess it would be closer to 2000Hp at the Flywheel.

With these injectors it’s hunting trying to catch the RPM for good reason… The injectors are flowing copious amounts of fuel and the fuel table doesn’t match and as such it can’t correct the fuel to catch the RPM.

For those who don’t know every Flash file has a table in it that reflects the injector and it’s know flow rates. Change the injector to another part number and it screws the Fuel table simply by way of the injector is delivering a different volume of fuel than the Table anticipates.

The reason for Kurt’s Engine Hunting is simply the Injectors are way bigger than the Fuel table in the Flash file he is using so when the ECM makes a Correction to RPM it thinks it’s altered the Pulse width to deliver the correct amount of fuel to stabilize the rpm but in fact has delivered 3 times the amount so the RPM overshoots so the ECM Cuts fuel until the Rpm is at a point where it then send more fuel again to Stabilize but over fuels again and so the Loop goes on and on.

For a Dyno com this is actually a Good thing as you can see HP gains simply by way of what the ECM thinks the fuel volume is and what it really is are two different things.

By changing the tables to a suit the Injector size will actually reduce the fuel by volume which would stabilize the RPM. However this would also reduce the HP. unless other tables were altered. And this is where the problem lies with few people being able to affectively alter the ECM Tables to suite custom applications.

This looping is normal and what I would expect and with no load its quite obvious, Load it up and it will be a Monster. Change the table will stabilize it at Idle but forfeit HP.

Very hard to have it both ways without being able to do some serious changes to the Tables.

    Lenny,
It's not my debate and I mean no disrespect because you seem very intelligent but something must be getting lost in translation. It always sounds like a personal attack of others knowledge/ experience/ theory/ practice / opinion etc. You 110% everyone else 0.0% correct. Not just this thread but others as well. I'm not tryin to speak for or defend far call or Mr h nor do they need me to, they can handle their own.
Like I said before you seem very knowledgeable and would like to extend you an offer. My truck makes or should say made a few less HP then kurts on the dyno, I have similar parts and a similar problem. My truck hunts , miss ,lopes at idle similar to kurts. I also have all the quirks while driving that Kurt describes. I have a spare ecm, and a spare set of brand new injectors sitting here, I will send them both to you if you can smooth my idle, reduce smoke, increase my HP + more mpg. I have no problem letting you fix them, and maybe we could put some real world yellow iron behind your opinions. You seem very confident in your knowledge, so let's put it to a test at antrim this spring.

If you don't have the skills hands on with these cats and only practice in theory or just don't want to accept my offer , please just try to sound a little less arrogant in your posts. I love to learn from others knowledge, but its getting old.

I agree with everything except the 2000 hp. It's about 1400-1450 hp at the flywheel, max.

If someone can change the fuel tables he can do big or small changes, whatever is needed.

No, Bosch unit injectors. It also smoked up until 1.5 bar of boost, he didn't like it, after programming no smoke.

Send only ECM. I can't do it but someone else can. Or send it to Quebec, it's closer.
