Thank you.Heyl called alittle bit ago.I do my drug test here in Sioux City today.Road test and orientation on Monday in Akron.I don't have a physical because I have a medical card.Fine by me.So far it seems like a laid back company and not into all the political redtape most have.

After reading this from front to back XL, can I make a suggestion? Seems to me that a change of pace is what you might need. You have experienced the dry van and refer side and all of the good and bad that goes with it. My suggestion would be to consider trying tanker. I have been pulling one now for almost three years and honestly can not see me trying anything else. First I was doing jet fuel/aviation gasoline now I am working for a logistics company hauling chemicals. Almost all of my unloading times are first thing in the AM, in and out with in two hours. Dead head back to my home terminal to pick up another trailer and off to the next customer. Very little waiting time any where so far when it comes to off loading or the periodic live load. When I first started driving, I came across you and maggs on this page and sorta followed you guys, primarily because at the time, you guys were working at Conway and I was considering going there as well as both of you guys are some what local to me. I live in Tampa.
I fortunately have stumbled across a real great company. They run all 48 and do regional as well. I do mostly just regional now. I'm off every weekend and am only gone most times 2 nights a week. Generally run a load out and dead head back. I average about 2500 miles a week and get paid for everything I do, I mean everything I do.
This coming week for example I deliver in Summerville SC Monday 8am, DH back and take my break at home. Leave when ever Tuesday to be in Troy Alabama on Wednesday morning for a 7AM delivery, DH to Deer Park Texas to get a load of fuel additive Thursday AM and come back to Lakeland. I can only speak to my company and my experience's with tankers, but have not seemed to experience any of the horror stories that come with van work. Naturally everyone Is different and has different expectations but sometimes change is good. Just a suggestion.

I heard tankers makes good money and when I was otr I don't recall ever seeing a tanker waiting for a load.Do you drive more nights then days?

I drive mainly during the day. Most of our customers have plenty of room for you to sleep so If I can make it to my customer with in the 11 hours, I leave early enough the day before and try to get there by about 7-8 PM and take my break. That way I can log back on around 6 am and generally make my delivery at that time and be back on the road by about 8-9. Some guys do drive at night but there is rarely a need. My company does not care when you leave or what route you take to get there, as long as you meet your appointment time and don't make a mess while your there. Most appointment times are from about 5AM to 8AM. Rarely ever any later than that.

Thanks Pogo. It's good that we Florida drivers look out for one another. I will keep your suggestion in mind. Perhaps down the road a piece, I may try tanker. Patti, Heyl uses people net, Bluetree, and comic books. Not sure what you'll get. I have Bluetree and I like it better than Qualcomm. Hope to see you make it on board.

I am at the Pilot in Boonville, Mo. Yesterday and this morning were brutal. I got stuck in the mass exodus of Snowbirds flying north on 75 out of Florida. Happens every year at this time. They ALL got to get back home to do their Taxes. From mm 201 to mm 270 in Georgia took 3.5 hrs. Note to self (Never head north from Lake Wales at or near 07:00). That had me hit Jackson, Georgia at 15:45 and the chaos that ensued had me hit Nashville at 07:45 this morning. Yuck!!!
