I'm all about getting that extra chunk of cash. It's an extra 750. I don't talk to very many drivers about coming over to Heyl because a lot of drivers getting in to this business are just steering wheel holders. Granted I only have a little over a million miles with Heyl but the industry seems to be getting worse. I might also be a little biased about Heyl just because I am a third generation driver for them from my family. I saw how they treated my dad while he was driving so I waited to get on with them. I had offers from other companies but didn't take them. As for Marv, I will be sure and watch out for that guy. Thanks for the heads up!

I have been with Heyl for almost 2 years.. real good company to work for, they will run you , i average 2200-2500 miles a week. They modifed pay a few months ago to make getting bonuses easier, and i have never missed either my fuel pay or my quartely, i hit 30000-33000 in a quater, hometime is never an issue they can have me back in a week if i need them too. the site is heyl.net
85% of our freight is florida and texas.. and we bounce to the NW quite a bit.. -
Is Hey still owned by the 4 brothers? I used to work in their Quasar division at the Sioux Falls yard. They had bought Quasar, and Scott Heyl was the terminal manager. Roger and Randy were in Akron. I never met the brother that at the time was at the Calgary terminal. Not a bad place to work back then. Kept me busy and all. I just didn't get along with reefer and returned to flatbedding.

I seen there has been no update on Heyl lately so I'll post one. The pay is decent for a Florida company, all new drivers start at .40cpm and top out at .43cpm after 3 years. Insurance isn't great but it's not bad,$35 a week for single and $120 week for the family plan. I've been here 5 years and as long as you pick up and deliver on time they leave you alone. Thats the good now the bad. The miles are on the low side, between 2000-2400 a week and to me that is low. The trucks do have an APU but they also have idle shutdown timers so if the APU won't run or its 100 degrees in Florida in a black truck and you've ran all night and trying to sleep in the heat of the day your going to sweat because the APU won't keep it cool. They fuel route you and now are installing driver facing cameras.

When I worked for Heyl in a division they had called Quasar Express, they were an Iowa company. Akron, IA. With a terminal in Sioux Falls, that they got buying Quasar, and a terminal in Calgary, Ab. I didn't like reefer at all. Left a flatbed company, worked for Heyl 10 months. Went back to flatbed. I was there in '93-'94. -
I see that many refer companies were struggling in August '16 (last post). Miles improving in 2017? 2000/wk regional or OTR? Anybody having issues with driver facing cameras? Inverters in trucks?
