Can we ban those #### Canadians, they are taking all the high paying company driver jobs.

 

Hah, I'm getting a 2nd raise In sept after ive been here a year too. But my company has a good paying contract with an equipment manufacturer here in canada. So most of the loads out of the US are just lower paying loads just to get us back to canada. So we don't take the US good paying jobs lol.

 

Oh I didn't realize you were making that monopoly money. Probably barely breaking a grand of real dollars.

That's a valid point. That's y I stock up on Supplies when I'm in canada, the exchange rate hurts.

 

Which direction? West of Toronto? Lots of blue freightliners?

You can't listen to the whiners all of the time.

 

I barely have 3 years experience in my industry and I think I make pretty good money as an employee. I get company paid health benefits.

There are good jobs out here. You just have to work hard and find the right opportunity. I am a college drop out, I don't have any respectable work history from the time I was 20-36.

But when I decided to make a career of it, I never complained, I never turned down a load at 10 pm after working all day. I took Sunday loads. I learnt everything I could when I was starting out. When I didn't have a load, I went and watched other people do their loads.

Even now, once I am loaded, I could go sit in my truck when I'm done but I don't, I go help our other trucks secure their loads.

When they are unloading the hammer & bucket off my truck, I don't stand back and watch, I put away his chains and sweep off his deck.

Make yourself stand out, show that you are willing to stand out above everyone else even if it's doing dishes. Be the best dish washer on the line and one day, you will have the opportunity to prove yourself as a competent Chef even if you've never cooked a meal.

Opportunity knocks for those who blaze the trails.
