My recommendation (that's a big word) is to seek your answers from the 'Questions From New Driver's' thread.

Florida is the Only State in the lower "48" I have not been to,so the last person to give advice to you is me.

Welcome to the forum and Good Luck. (Really)- A puppy.?:biggrin_2556::biggrin_255:

    Welcome!

I don't know personally but I'm sure its like most states... don't go to work for the same company as your cdl school, go to a community college and get your cdl there. Much less $$ and you get more hours.

There are some who choose cdl classes through a college. Many others prefer to go through a company sponsored training schedule. I would seem to agree that a company who owns their own trucks would train you better simply because they don't want you to mess up or wreck their rigs. Colleges seem to just want warm bodies so they can get paid. And why is everyone laughing about me taking a puppy along with me after I get my cdl and own truck?? I am taking a winnie dog with me or bust by grannies I just won't drive for any company that doesnt allow pets. These hardheaded companies will lose out on a lot of good drivers with their assinine anti-pet policies. I hear lots of drivers complain about Federal regs. well, it is the private executives of the trucking companies who forbid pets in trucks. The Government didn't make that rule. I was reading a website to a trucking company the other day that didn't allow dogs in trucks. They cited safety concerns. BS BS BS all you have to do is have a cheap plastic fence between your drivers seat and the back seat of the cab to keep the dog in the back. Some of these same bosses let dogs ride with them when they are driving their pickups so dont give me that bull about safety. Some bosses just like to be unreasonable dictators. America is not the place for dictators. if bosses wanna act like British redcoats and royalty they need to pack up and get back to Britain or go to Russia or Alabama haha
