My name is Stephanie, and I am a newbie. I have lived several years in different areas of Kansas, but made the decision to return to El Paso TX in November of 2012. My folks still live here as well as two sisters and a brother. Living back here in El Paso as been an experience, so so different then Kansas. I did not think it wouldbe all that difficult to get a job here, I already knew wages were pretty low, cost of living not too bad...did I mention I am not fully bilingual...that has been thebiggest obstacle for myself in getting a pretty decent paying job here. I did go to school to further my education at a Vocational School, which has not helped me obtainemployment, partly because of the language barrier, I speak english (no habla espanol) but also when you get a certificate in a speciality field, I found the chancesare slim if you do not have previous experience. I guess what I am trying to say is, we go to school to learn a trade, but alot of companies are not willing to giveyou a chance with no experience, and how do you get the experience? by someone giving you a chance. Anyway, I am interested in driving, whether it be a Delivery Truck,Semi, Tractor-Trailer, Local Route, OTR, etc. there will always be a need for Drivers/Truckers. I have a clean driving record, just recently obtained my CDL C permit, (I wasgoing to work with a company for Paratransit driver, but I would like to work full time) general knowledge and passenger endorsement and have a DOT medical card. Wellokay, I think that is all I have to say for my Introduction. I want to thank everyone in advance for their knowledge, suggestions and opinions when I have questions asked inthe forum.

Mesilla Valley Transportation has their own CDL school in El Paso. I read somewhere one time, they have financing available.

Each of our campus' also include a Tractor Lab, where you will learn the basic parts and maintenance fundamentals of commercial driver's responsibilities in safety and fuel efficiency.
In addition to the classroom experience, each campus utilizes industry standard Freightliner tractors, in order to ensure that your education is applicable to the widest range of equipment used by national and local transportation companies. Range maneuvers are also taught and performed on five acres of private property to enhance a driver's skill and comfort level with the machinery.

Our Texas campus, located in Canutillo, is the heart of the MVTI operation. Opened in September of 2003, we began as a result of the demand for quality commercial driving instruction from many of the industry's leaders.
Located just outside the Westside of El Paso, we are within minutes of Chaparral, Sunland Park, Santa Theresa, and Anthony, TX, as well as Northeast El Paso via Transmountain/Loop 375."

Celadon has a free CDL school in Laredo, TX and provides free lodging and 3 meals a day.
Living in El Paso, Mesilla Valley would be my first choice.
