Hi everyone I am new here but have been a driver for about 20 years. I have driven OTR , regional and local. I have pulled a gas wagon, reefer, end dump, side dump, grain trailer, anahydrous bottle, propane bottle.......LOL Just about everything but a drop deck or flat bed. I am married to a driver that I met at the fuel island in Nebraska about 8 years ago. We had a baby girl 2 years ago and I have stayed home with her and now Hubby is a trainer/mentor for JBS. I have gotten a few calls to go work harvest locally but am waiting until our little one is a little older. I must admit I miss it terribly and the last place I worked out of Commerce City regional end dump was a blast BUT I can't imagine leaving her yet and when I do it will only be running around close enough I am home everyday..........miss the old running but wouldn't trade her for the world. Hope to meet lots of you and hope to help some....friend some...and who knows maybe even entertain some. Hope to chat at yall soon

Anhydrous Ammonia is nasty stuff. I used to work in a plant that used it- on weekends there was only one employee in the whole place and he had to make hourly walk- throughs. By the time you found the exit on the other side your lungs, throat and nose was ON FIRE. After a five minute break you had to go back.
Welcome! -
THANKS!!! Nice to meet you! -
Yeah I used to haul for Farmland back in the day before they got taken over by Iowa Tanklines. When they started making us park in Iowa's yard we knew the end was near. I hauled that stuff to co-ops all over Colorado. I always loved bottle and wagon work. My favorite part was coming back over the "hill" empty towards Denver. My first trip over Loveland Pass was for those guys hauling a mixed load of diesel and gas to Fruita Co-Op Fun times hanging with the guys!!

Hello and welcome!
As a mom who is about to become an empty nester in two weeks time, I would say PLEASE stay home with your little girl, and enjoy every minute with her you can. They dont stay little for long, and while you can always find a new job, you can't get her a new childhood.
When my son was small, I took jobs that I did not really like, and would not have chosen otherwise, but they were near to school, and helped me balance working and motherhood.
Now this year, for the first time I'm taking a job that I want, and its a whole new adventure that I can go to knowing that I did the best job I could as a mom.
Can you find a local job, once she starts pre-school?
Sorry just my 2c worth, tell me to stop meddling, I'm just a near - empty nester getting all nostalgic!shriner75 Thanks this. -

No don't worry its sweet for you to give what under normal cicumstances would be WONDERFUL advise BUT I already have 3 adult sons 26,22 and 21 so i KNOW how quick it goes! As they got older I moved from local to regional to OTR back to regional. I would NEVER go anywhere with a child this young and thankfully this time I have a husband ( I was a single mother for most of the boys lives) who agrees that the best place for Mom is home with their small child. I am not worried about working as we are doing fine BUT I do miss it sometimes ...until I think of handing her to a stranger just to go play in the truck. LOL I live in an area that has lots of oportunities for seasonal and part time work MAYBE once she starts school. THANKYOU though.shriner75 Thanks this.
