Hi, I'm a ASE Master tech that's mostly experienced with passenger vehicles but I've been working more with Internationals and Macks the past few years. I'm looking to get an Illinois class B CDL to drive as a swing driver for the refuse company I work as a mechanic for.

I'm joining this site mainly to ask technical questions and advice. Thanks.

Welcome. Class B should be pretty easy to obtain.

Most refuse companies also need Class-A cdl drivers.
They hire Class-B and Class-A drivers.

austinmike and Flat Earth Trucker Thank this.

Thanks, the company I work for only requires class B. But I'm considering getting a class A for the hell of it.

The Class-A is a good insurance policy in your wallet. Never know what the future holds, so that Class-A may come to the rescue some day.
