Hello,
I am new here of course or why would I post this.
Been driving for 5 years. Started off with a hot shot rig (Ford F-250 and single wheeled tandem axle gooseneck), then moved up to a single axle International 8100 with a small sleeper hooked to a 53' step deck sitting on 12K axles. Then my dad started driving after retiring. He went full scale with a International 9400i and a 53' van. We both drove our own rigs till he lost his engine and we had to sell my rig to cover the cost of the repair.
We team drove his rig for a while till we got back on our feet and then he decided that he liked being retired better.I then took over his rig and went from there. Just traded in the 9400i for a Freightshaker Century with an APU that gets much better fuel mileage. That International was an old Boyd Brothers flatbed truck and with the van it drug air and barely got 5.25 with a light load and a tailwind! My new (used) truck is a former Prime truck. It has more power with the Detroit compared to the small Cat C13 in the International. I can get close to 7 mpg but so far I would average it around 6 for all loads. With that improvement on MPG and the APU, I am hoping to save some money even though I will have more payments again.
Anyways that is me and my short trucking biography. Catch ya later.
