The private messaging system is a privilege that is provided for members who participate in the community. It's provided so that they may communicate privately with other members who also contribute to the site.

The reason for the seven post minimum is to ensure that members are contributing to the forums before they can access that feature. Otherwise, spammers would use it to target members. Stuffing the site with nonsensical posts isn't the same thing as participating in the community.

You could have just as easily visited some other threads in here and welcomed other new members. Had you done that, you would have had your seven posts by now. Until you reach the seven post minimum that is required, any on-duty administrator or moderator can forward PM's for you.
