Would someone tell me the correct filter to use, and do I need to use the oring with the filter. I'm correctly using the fs 1212..I was currently using the older steel canister wire filter, hoping to get the best fuel flow, Thank you...

I use a large Donaldson. I'll post the number later (if I remember).
-
ok ty, do you use the oring or not?
-
Who is ty? What o ring?
-
I think he meant thank you.
Donaldson P551000 for the tall filter and always use the o-ring. -
The Cat filter, 256-8753 flows 320 gph but the filter head it screws on to is only capable of 120 gph.
I run a Davco 382 with a Fleetguard FS19729... 50 micron 180 gph.ROBSREDFORD, KB3MMX and BoxCarKidd Thank this. -
I guess I should also state, the 1R-0749 secondary on the motor is good for 100 gph. The primary just needs to be able to supply enough to keep the secondary flowing and happy.
And maybe it's just me but I only use a 1R-0749 on the secondary. You don't even need to cut the filter apart to see the difference in quality between a Cat filter and all the others... injectors for yellow motors are expensive.snowman_w900, KB3MMX and Diesel Dave Thank this. -
If you're using the CAT filter head use CAT filter 256-8753 and DON'T use the o-ring. There is an o-ring built into the throat of the CAT filter that engages the smooth part of the spud below the threads.

OK on the ty. Thanks I'll get the number of that primary filter I use.

I use a Donaldson P555823 for a primary filter. I also use a fuel restriction gauge so I know when to change the filter.
