Tilt the fifth wheel up in the rear and place a bottle or something stiff between the under side of the fifth wheel plate and the frame so that the front of the plate is lower than the king pin...drop the air bags then pull forwardLindaPV Thanks this. -

I've done it twice, both times in the rain (and I did get out and look) both times the kingpin went a bit to far to the left or right and rode up the fifth wheel. Both times I backed up a little further, dropped suspension in the truck. I wedged a gatorade bottle under the fifth wheel to get it to angle backwards. Then I dollied the trailer a bit to get the pin to clear the fifth wheel, pulled forward very slowly; reset the fifth wheel, dollied the trailer back down and backed up a bit straighter. It sucked both times. I keep a very bright flashlight now just to make sure I'm centered.
