I do not find that any of the 379 Petes I drive have a high idle switch. Is there a hidden switch somewhere I am missing? Or is there just not a high idle on these 379s? They are 05, 06 and 07 model years with 18 speeds and c15 motors.
Thanks.
High idle question...

Use the cruise control.
Pumpkin Oval Head Thanks this. -
Yeah, use the cruise. Turn it on and use the set/resume button to raise/lower it.
You can also set your engine idle. Cruise off, repeatedly bump the set/resume button. At least my 09 387, that's the way it works. Let us know if it works on yours.Pumpkin Oval Head Thanks this. -
'07 Pete 379 ...same thing. Turn Cruise Control toggle OFF, then toggle the SET/RESUME DOWN to lower or UP to raise the idle. It'll move idle up or down about 25 r's at a whack. Mine's limited on the idle set high side to about 800 rpms but that's probably an adjustable parameter in the ECM.
Pumpkin Oval Head Thanks this. -
Thats the setup for cummins, not CAT ..I think -
I usually just use the fuel peddle to raise the rpms to where I want them than just hit the set button
-
thats how my 95 pete works with a cat just turn the crusie on then idle up and then push the switch up to the set poistion and your done

I have been driving some tender trucks with PTOs and have been using the fast idle to get the fertilizer unloaded....The Pete has switches to use to get it to go fast....huh??? Yep, it does.
Thanks again for your help. -
I just found a 3rd switch after being in this truck for 4 years...it a 2000 379 w/99 n14...seems to be some kind of idle control. Almost works like the set/resume switch while idling. Can use it to set idle from 550 to 750rpms...even works when cruise is off. Guess I'll start using it for idling ♂️
