Thinking about Chicagoland? What would you say? What are best areas of the NorthEast?

Why is Denver so bad for you? Is it just the time of year? We normally see 2.25-2.31$ out of the Denver area. But I have not been there or had a truck there in 4 months. Both dry van and step deck. I would do some research though b4 packing up and moving to Cali. Not the most trucking company friendly state.

Philly ny and jersey will give you decent freight rates all year round. Standard of living costs will be higher then what your accustomed to.

You know within a past year we hardly found rates higher 1.65 and if we would our trucks unloaded in or around Denver we would have to wait for loads for couple of days instead of going deadhead for several hundreds of miles to pick up a load from other states. Just wanted to have a home base some other state with busy freight area where you can make more contacts with shippers brokers carrier not only over the phone or internet but face to face talk as well. But so far we just doing our research before making any decisions

What size is your company? 1-5 trucks and trailers or in the 5-15 range?

What about the southeast? Cost of living and taxes in LA is a killer. The super size contanier ships will be coming to Charleston and Savanna in a few years and by passing the west coast. Say you don't haul containers? Break bulk warehouses will pop up in the south and dry up in the west.

Good freight between the south and Chicago, and Chicago going south, cheaper to live and do business in the south.

The loads in Savannah and the loads going in and out of Florida are cheap, because of the bottom feeders. It is very cut throat. Another complicated issue is Unions are involved too at the port.

There is no way I would travel completely across the country ,to down here and start up a trucking operation here. The cost of living is low for a reason. People here don't make the income like other places (up north and Cali.)

Cali has great paying loads for a reefer truck if you connect with the right brokers. I didn't recommend up north because lots of O/O's don't want to weather the Fall and Winter. But if you can handle the Fall and Winter there are a lot of good paying loads up north and going in and out of Canada. I've made some runs around north and Canada and enjoyed it. I guess I'm to scared to drive in snow in the cold seasons. I'm from the south, most of us don't know how to handle snow anyway. :biggrin_2559:
