Are you sure you weren't at Rawlins? There is NOTHING in Elk Mountain.
WY doesn't salt, it rusts out your car. They use sand and some other ice melter besides salt. I've never figured out how the plow service is supposed to work in any state. They'll be times when there is a very small storm and little accumulation and the plows will be out in a mad force. Other times its a bad storm and you might see one or two out, or having coffee at the donut shop. Doesn't make any sense. Happens in a lot of states. -
It was the get on ramp.
Much of I 80 across WY has been closed at different times this week. Due to high winds and blowing snow. -
thats funny but the truth
i had a short run couple weeks ago to Richmond, and on my way down there all along 66 and 17 all they way down to 95 nothing but snowplows and salt shakers, in the turn arounds and exit ramps "preping" for the snow...but it hadnt snowed yet
i left Petersburg it was snowing hard and getting icy , bunch of accidents all the way back home and i might have seen a hand full of plows

Rawlins is most likley closer to where I was. You know how it is. you forget where you are at. My wife will ask me. "what state are you in" and I'll say "hold on let me check my GPS. Oh.... I am in Kansas now." LOL

I forget what day of the week it is and have to look at my cell phone display.
