TAke the 70. You can swing up to dinosaur land and over to vernal utah. That'll take you up before the fruita scale. I didn't care much for those scales either. A lot of times i did the NO NO and took that side road to the north. And crossed my fingers for no cops. I usually rolled through at night though so nobody would be around. Specially if i was coming in with a heavy load.
Or just head in to utah and swing up through price over to the 15.

@PermanentTourist
I'm just giving you a hard time for the "wimping out" crack.. I understand.
I'm faced with the same issue.
Headed to Seattle with 12,000lbs.
I normally take 29, 90.. because of the high winds on 80... but this trip 90 in SD has a blizzard.
Six to 9 inches of snow in the central with 50mph gusts.
I had to make a decision.
I chose Wyo on 80.
I'll likely trudge to Laramie and go 30 around through Medicine Bow past Elk Mtn and get back on.
The high winds warnings are up on 30, too, but it's not the same animal.
Be careful.x1Heavy, Dave_in_AZ, PermanentTourist and 2 others Thank this. -
Good news is I got them to double up my load, so now I'm up to a whole 12000 lb! Never thought I'd be begging for MORE weight.x1Heavy Thanks this. -

If you get caught on the highway while said restriction is in place, it's wreck less driving, and they are going to shut you down anyway.
If you roll, hehe, it's a felony, $1800 fine, 30 days in the clink, and you foot the ENTIRE bill for clean up, wrecker, occifers time, blah.x1Heavy Thanks this. -
Look on WyoDOT website. It's pretty detailed, and will give you current road conditions / restrictions.
You can call 511 as well, but the Web is better.x1Heavy Thanks this. -
You are he captain of the ship, most places will understand delays from weather, document all the delays that come up. laying a truck over and destroying a load is way worse.
