I make 27.50 an hour and I will make 66000 this year a little less because I did a little less overtime, plus I get 5 weeks vacation and overtime starts after 8 hours each day I work for Pepsi beverages company

The guys that work for the Safeway DCs in the Northern Cali are clocking $70k+.
Cost of living is higher, but for a single guy without kids, that's doing pretty well.

One place I fill-in for pays extremely good, i grossed 1k in 4 days. That week my average rate was 25/hr. At the position I'm doing now, Its 30/load and its a 20 mile roumd trip that can be done in an hour. Nornally I only average 18/hr though. Still not bad, but have to earn it.

Your chances of success and making the higher pay will be substantially higher if you aim for the more unique, kind of unheard of or gigs that most don't think about. You have to find them and go after them though. Occasionally I have seen some posted on Craigslist.
