I take it that the smaller the town, the greater the chance of being slapped with an unfair fine. Y'all got to be more careful out here! I haven't had that problem yet myself fortunately, but it would suck if it ever does. I understand your frustration, Mr. Barcode. I understand.

OK, aside from the pissing contest started by somebody who doesn't know what the hell he is talking about. . .

To get back to the thread of "hillbilly towns" Just about ANY small town in Nevada will qualify. I saw this thread, and my first thought was BEATTY NEVADA! It's north of Vegas on 95. I haven't been there in many years, but they used to have the speed limit down to 25 about two miles past the edge of town both north and south. The sings were posted all right. But it was so patently ridiculous to be slowed down to 25 while you were still two miles out in jack rabbit country. And the Nye County Sheriff's Office used to write a LOT of speed tickets in those areas.

And of course I'm sure everyone knows of New Rome, OH.
Population 60 with 14 of them police.

If one does not think "Speed trap" towns exist, go read this article about New Rome.

It's located at en.wikipedia.org/wiki/New_Rome,_Ohio (Sorry can't link due to post count).

Yesterday, while I was loading up in Huntingdon, TN, another driver mention he had just received a ticket for 33mph in a 30 in Gibson, TN. (on US-79)

Checking this city out on speedtrap.org reveals some interesting comments:

I remember the state came down hard on that little town! They were actually breaking the law by writing as many tickets as they did. I thought I read somewhere they shut the town down or incorperated it with another one? Somethign to that effect I thought.

SR 20 from norwalk (250) to Toledo. Every little town across there used to try to get you for something. The worst was probably Clyde.

After making the turn and noticing the Cop following me thru town, I would have stopped and asked him what to do, since the sign was posted past the point of no return. :smt117

I never saw the sign. I noticed the cop because he was hugging my ### all the way through town and made no attempt to pass me even though I was going about 5 under the speed limit.

When he lit me up after we made it through town, I thought he was going to harass me about stopping for a green light at the intersection with the redlight camera (as I do for ALL intersections with cameras).

Hartsville, South Carolina. Going south on US 15 they have a truck route around the town, but you wouldn't know it till you pass sign which is right at the left turn. There isn't anything warning you that its there. Then you pass by you see signs saying "No Through Trucks" and "Truck Laws Strictly Encforced."
