Anyone have any personal experience or second hand about hiner transport in huntington in? I looked at their safestat and their web site. Decent trucks and the recruiter was actually partially honest in stating that they can't promise a ton of miles but I SHOULD get 2k miles a week or more. Any feedback welcome thanks!![]()

If you have
1: no life at all
2: no bills to pay
3: no need to ever get home then this is the perfect company for you
If you have a family or bills to pay then this isnt the company for you,i worked there for over a year with the hopes that it would get better for me but it didnt.
I could never depend on how much my check was going to be ANY week since they seem to work on a "when we get paid u get paid" system so say i run 2300 miles and get my paperwork handed in b4 the cutoff well imagine my surprise when $300 is put into my account...last time i checked 2300 x 35cpm isnt $300.
Their hometime is almost none so if you have a family dont expect to get to see them much at all , every now and then you will get lucky and get home at a decent hour on friday - it was very rare for me. If you do get on with them watch the driver board in the breakroom, your picture will move up quick because so many drivers quit once they figure out what hiner is about.
If you havent ever run "loose leaf" logs b4 you will learn what its like to and how to abuse it, all the drivers there abuse it or they wont b working there long ,all you have to do is b within a hour of fueling either way and thats it. Trust me there will b days when you start out say 9am and still b awake at 11am the next morning behind the wheel of their semi.
On the bright side they do have prepass for tolls i dont think i ever had to pay out of pocket for anything that had to do with tolls and they were VERY good about paying for the cat scales to once you reach $40 dollars they would cut you a check, never had to worry about that. They do pay for idleair to but good luck being able to use it ,like i said i had been there a year and the closest i got to it was when i passed by it to get out of the trk stop.
For example,The other weekend i was basically told they would rather have me sit at a restarea on the nj turnpike in the sun ALLWEEKEND with the truck running than send me 40 miles down the road to paulsboro to use the idleair, needless to say that was the end for me and hiner transport.
I could go on and on but im not going to waste anymore of my time on hiner transport ,for every driver there i talked to it was 50/50 they either loved it or hated it so good luck to you! -
Sometimes drivers are out over the weekend because they weren't able to get a load for you. But, if that is the case they will make it up to you when you get back. quote]
LOL there is some wishful thinking! -
I worked for hiner 7 mos, there a pretty good co, I regret leaving them, they have there quirks, but overall a decent co to work for, I'd go back, but for some reason they won't take me back, even though I thought did a decent job for them, at any rate, they'll treat you pretty good, maint dept is awesome, equipment is top of the line, inverters, idle aire are some perks, alot of NE but not really too bad
-
ok, the negetive on hiner(which really isn't)but for there company it is, they'll bend over backwards for the guys with senority, or the owners truckin buddies, they may deadhead you for 200 miles to pick up or relay a load because they'll get there buddies or senority home or dn't want to have it for watever reason, but at the same time if your 100 miles from the house, they won't deadhead you, but will pay to be hooked up to idle aire, and give you layover pay, they waste alot of money there to accomodate there senority, i just wonder what thy'll do when those people die or retire, they think short term, still overall, not a negetive, esp if your on the right side of the fence

yeah, dont sign any Promisary Note related to the Drivers agreement they have. The Drivers agreement has absolutely nothing to do with the promisary note. The promisary note is simply you saying that you will pay them, to maybe, possibly, no wait...it doesnt say anything at all about a job, or training, it just makes you owe them money for nothing as soon as you sign it.
-
I think you would be crazy to work for them if they want you to sign a contract and pay them, do the math people, by the time it is all said and done with interest it amounts to almost, 8000.00, not 4000.00. There is also NO< NONE< absolutely no promise of employment when you complete the training.

Hiner Transport basically is a eastern trucking company. If you don't like going east to Jersey, Conn, NY, Penn etc. I wouldn't suggest going here. I used to work for Hiner and they only way you really get a west route is to be given a routine or perm. route only to that location, but that is usually given to the ones that have been there for quite sometime. Every once in a while you may get a southern route but don't count on it. Like I said they are mainly an eastern running company. And they try to get you back home for the weekend but that doesn't always work either. Just a few pointers on them before you decide if you wanna go east all the time.

I've heard that they changed since I left back in 2007. B4 that, I saw 45 states in under two years. I went through their training program and thought it was awesome. I mean, they paid me while they trained me. Stay with them for a year and owe nothing for the training.
I was there just under two years and only left because I'd found a lease/purchase deal that I liked.
Hometime works best if you live close to the terminal.
Yeah they kinda cater to the seniority. But the seniority are the bread and butter. they bring in the bacon week after week. And they run like clockwork. -
Funny the complaints about senior drivers getting the better runs. Pardon me if I'm wrong, but I was under the assumption that it's the way things SHOULD be at a company. All over these boards folks complain about carriers who drop miles and make things miserable for a senior driver in the theory that the company is trying to get rid of them to bring students on board at a lower cpm. Here is a company that is (seems to be) doing it the right way and some are bashing them for it.
Lilbit Thanks this.
