The senior drivers were being left out on weekends just like everyone else when i was there.
-
Just starting out with them and they seem basically okay for a trucking company I guess.
So far my main complaint is actually their customers. It's been a mix of annoying docks, disorganized receiving with trucks waiting in the street, or more recently delivering to tiny stores trying not to hit the curb or ditch.
Hometime seems slightly better then most OTR to me. They seem to like setting up weekend deliveries for Monday morning. If you can manage your time you might get in hometime but in order to make Monday morning delivery you have to lose a chunk of your Sunday if not all of Sunday. Or perhaps be willing to leave Monday morning at 1am. -
The loads tend to get better as time goes by. Seniority carries weight. It also helps when you help dispatch out( like volunteering to move trailers). I always liked doing the Mullinix loads.

I feel so stupid I'm getting violations on the E-log system.
-
Really? I never had the pleasure to E-logs on Peoplenet. Qualcomm's e-logs suck too.

This has become a very strange work experience. On one hand I'm an experienced driver but the dispatcher keeps assuming I've been working about the same way Hiner does everything which is way off.
It's hard for me to say Hiner is bad that isn't quite right and fair. But I'd equate the experience to switching from PC to Mac. Computers are computers but I've been using PC and it's as if my Dispatcher is a Mac guy who assumes I should know how they run things.
Prior to this all my experience comes from PAM which was a really different operation to this. PAM certainly wasn't perfect either but it was a style of trucking I'd become used to. Also switching to PeopleNet and Elogs is weird to. Also more recently this huge urgency to call Brokers. I've never had to deal with brokers before or if so it was very rare not routine.
Anyway I'd say people more experienced doing regional would be more comfortable with Hiner. Hiner calls themselves OTR but they're really more of a Regional operation with a bit of OTR weekends thrown in.
I kind of wonder if I'd be happier with USXpress. -
well if this helps...............i can't see making much if they went to e logs, unless they got some diff disp that won't let you sit around all day waiting on next load, when i was there, u sat alot waiting, esp up in NE, she even knew that was the routine, but would make me cut out early just to sit and be ready, like a dog waitin on a bone, sorry my tail wasn't waggin over there, other dispatchers where better, of course i got stuck with the crappy one tryin to make a name for herself, she use to tell me...well my husband drove and peed in a bottle, why do you need to stop, well for one sally.............i drive safely, and i don't like smellin like piss

They should have called themselves Hiney Transport. That would have been a catchy name.

No doubt. However, that wasn't the owner's last name.
