elaborate please...
myself... I'd like to quit due to a number of reasons... here are a few
-61mph truck
-being forced to follow fuel stops. sure I fueled this morning, let's stop 4 hours later to add 23 gallons. that makes sense.
-politics of mileage/percentage dispatch, since I'm mileage it's endless 200-250 mile runs across NY and NJ, I95 all week, tolls tolls tolls, can't get a long run to save my life. at least once a week I'll run into a driver who says oh I'm going to WA, sorry to hear you get a 185 mile run into NJ.
-wasting time and giving out personal info for comcheks, then not being reimbursed for tolls/comcheks affecting my pay every week.
-overall I lose an hour of productivity every day from a year ago due to to the above.
-condescending qualcomm msgs from clueless fleet manager, like snapshot is coming, follow your fuel stopsmanage your business
WHAT BUSINESS?
-phone call once a week to discuss out of route, clueless fleet manager who does not understand reasons for out of route like going to truckstops for comcheks or fuel stops, or the fact that short miles don't exist and aren't accurate in the first place, and 200-250 mile runs in NY/NJ/Canada that KILL my out of route, then saying keep track of your out of route then hanging up on me.
-errors in dispatch, like being dispatched on a split load showing loading in PA, then actually meeting the driver in NY, and not being compensated for the difference in miles, then getting a phone call for the resulting 69% out of route.
-constant micromanagement in general, I have been in this industry long enough to realize your money is not best spent paying a fleet manager to call a driver and say you had tarps on your deck.
-lies from management.
-all around not a very fun place to work anymore.

Looks like its time for a new FM carter....I started out with a real nimrod FM and he was fired for some sketchy dealings and I was given a newer young guy who is fantastic...he's alittle green but is really on top of things and really seems to give a #### about his drivers...What a huge difference it was to have someone who actually answers the phone and gives the driver choices on loads if they are available...Much easier to do what you need to do with someone you can get along with and is in the drivers corner!!
-
lol I love my FM personally, he's a good guy, just doesn't really have any idea how anything works in relationship to the flatbed trucking industry. sure he calls with load options when they are available and seems to care, but just doesn't really know what he's doing.
it's not really him, it's that fleet managers are nothing more than bean counters at TMC. I'm sure if he had time he'd address some of the problems I am having. I'd kill myself after about 8 hours after having to keep track of 40 truck drivers.
still, every week, it's this:
hey can I get a long load?
(beep! short load)
hey I picked up this load in NY, not PA
(nothing)
hey can I get a long load?
(beep! short load)
hey remember that load I picked up in NY and not PA?
(I'll look into it)
hey can I get a long load?
(beep! short load)
seriously, I had 69% OOR on that load and would like paid for the 250 mile difference
(nothing)
hey can I get a long load?
(beep! short load)
(your out of route was 14% last week. are you using an atlas?)
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
having a hard time taking ANYTHING at TMC seriously. sometimes I wake up in the morning and think, is this really my job? -
JoeCool, I suggest you look up the meaning of Nimrod. CB, Why would you want to put up with such an incompetent FM?
-
"A nimrod is a silly or foolish person. This usage most likely originated with the classic cartoon character Bugs Bunny, who referred to Elmer Fudd as a "poor little Nimrod. ..."

Did you think I meant the famous hunter???
There are many words with many meanings HH, I'm pretty sure you understood what I was trying to say....Last edited: Oct 19, 2009
