pay attn a lot jack every day is a new learning experience
Jackofalltrades1977 Thanks this. -
Good luck, and stick with what you want to do. TransAm is still treating me well 4 months down the road, and hopefully it won't change like the rumors I've heard.
Also, lelou, as I've said before, the pay may be low, but you are driving new equipment, and you have an APU/Inverter/Fridge. The fridge and inverter(if you add a microwave or other cooking appliance), will save you more on food than that extra you'd make with another carrier in most cases. The new t660s and APU also make life out on the road much more comfortable, to the point where I'm not reluctant to climb back into my truck when I get off hometime. I guess to each his own, but these things are what makes me thankful to be with TransAmJackofalltrades1977 Thanks this. -
the e-logs started today.

Billy, I've asked around when I was at the yard, but no one had answers then. Is there a Line 5(off duty driving)?
I wonder how long it'll be before I am forced back to Olathe.... -
Are you guys company drivers or lease drivers?

-- reading through these posts on this I am wondering if most companies have a pre-employment screening program which is stringent ~ seeking to eliminate even pot-bellies ?... You make what I know to be a very relevant point, that of bringing in heavy loads of people who are or claim to be wishing to drive but the few that last beyond 1-5 years is not what one would expect. For me the test is watch the person drive a few hours and one can tell what if anything they know, if the person did not be able to handle lumber hauling using a 4x5 in a Mack by the time the finished junior high-school, then the person would not only have no place being interviewed by me but as well probably never be anywhere in the yard in the first place.
I looked at the investigation & research link you posted, which I did not know existed, but would it not be that 90+% or probably 95% do not drive for 5-10 years ?..so why are these people spending thousands on "truck driving school" ...? -
For many,
it's a last resort !!! -
Wondered when they would go to elogs. Could see that coming when they got the new qualcomm.

I'm still in training, but plan on going company when I'm done out here.
E-logs: several drivers have up and quit because of them, we had to swap with a guy who was quitting in Ga.
We're going from Atl to Plainview, TX. In La right now heading straight for that line of storms.
I did see a JB Hunt truck on its side today. Rolled over in an off ramp hauling paper rolls. The paper rolled right thru the top of the trailer.camels76 and The Challenger Thank this.
