I went to the nabors yard southwest of kenedy and was told takes a few years of experience ~ petey lozano takes low-time applicants for west texas for nabors & I have his direct number (two of them actually) if you want it

Ran low on memory? I don't get that comment at all Nicholas.

Anyway, yesterday marked the end of my first week of work. I'm on a schedule of three weeks of working 5 days off 1, then I'm off for a week. They allow this work schedule for those who come to work from out of town, and want time to go back home to visit family. If you live locally you work 4 on, 2 off repeatedly. Working only three weeks a month sounded enticing, and after doing a side by side comparison of the two work schedules, I found that you only lose two days of pay working this schedule during the last three months of this year anyway. So working this schedule I now have the option to go back home to Florida monthly.

As far as the work goes, it's not bad at all. You get a little dirty, especially if it rains like it did yesterday, but the job is no big deal at all. Our trucks are all 2011 or newer, we have a full service shop at our yard, and all the support you need. At our yard we have water drivers, and condensate drivers, who are required to have a hazmat endorsement. I would advise to go the condensate side as they make considerably more money. As far as hours go, you work at a minimum of 12 hours a day. It appears they prefer you work 15 a day though. Everything after 40 is OT though so most wanna work it anyway. Most drivers paychecks have 150 hours for two weeks. That's a lot of OT per paycheck. The money is definitely here.

The only things that suck around here are most of the roads, and housing. Pricing on housing doesn't seem as bad as it does in North Dakota, but it's still expensive. As far as the roads go, most are old and narrow, and lease roads aren't marked typically, so learning to navigate is the biggest issue I've seen. It will all come with time.

Oh yeah, they do provide company housing for 90 days if you come from out of town. The accommodations are ok I guess. We do have a live in maid at the Kenedy yard who cleans daily, she even makes our beds. After 90 days they give you a generous relocation bonus to help with associated costs of moving.

So, there it is. I waited at least a week to write this so I would actually have something to write about. Now you have actual facts from an actual employee. I know it's hard getting real information about a workplace unless you are there, so if you all have any specific questions just ask. Good luck to you all!

    Haystak88....

Looks like the 1.5 yrs experience requirement worked out for you. I worked for Nabors a short while in west TX and had no problems with them. I left on short notice due to family crisis. One thing I can appreciate is the maintenence performed on their equipment and availability of needed items (wiper blades--w/s washer fluid--OIL- tires-etc) From there to Schneider in Victoria for several months hauling crude.....some times things don't work out.:biggrin_25513:

You should be able to make some decent money with Nabors.
