Is this 1099 or w-2? Lets break this down real quick. 400 miles per day times 5 days a week at what you say is high $0.50/mile would equal $1000 per week and after taxes the driver would bring home $650-$750 per week then you want to charge him $53/ per week for insurance. Seems with only running 2,000 miles per week the milage would have to be higher than $0.50 per mile in my opinion.
maffy95 Thanks this. -
Thanks JIMROY , that was why I threw those figures into the mix. maffy95 , not knowing all of your particulars and just how much you as the truck owner are being paid, or how much the truck is making it is kinda hard to come up with hard line figures. But like my friend JIMROY pointed out , in order to attract the driver/s that you want...those that will show up rain/snow/sleet/fog/not feeling so well but able to run/ etc. You need to have somewhat above average pay and benefits to get these guys attention. They want those kind of schedules too because it leaves lots of time to do stuff...but those guys that have kept their noses clean , kept their DMV records spotless , have good sound work histories , also know that they can get top wages..those that don't will work for much less , but will treat you AND your equipment/customers in a way that you don't like for them too...remember they don't have anything to loose..they'll just hop over to the next low-paying gig , and leave you with a torn up truck or a REALLY pissed off customer or BOTH...something that you don't want or need.
I love to deer hunt..and for years I kept buying cheap optics to go on my hunting rifles....til I missed the deer that would have probably put my name in the Boone& Crockett record books. all because I didn't want to spend the extra dollars for a good quality scope....Now I spend more money on the scopes than I do the rifles. Same example applies with you're problem.."You get what you pay for"Container Hauler and maffy95 Thank this. -
It would be 1099 at first... also could make this six nights a week if the driver would want to work more...
BTW I dont think $53 a week for med & Dental is a lot... and I wouldn't be charging him/her the ins. company would... I make nothing from that.
Just as a side note I would be working right along side... I would not ask the driver to do anything I wouldn't do.Leftlane101, volvodriver01 and Tonythetruckerdude Thank this. -
Hope you get that trophy deer!!! -
