Have any brokerage owners on here tried to hire agents to work for you from home on a commission split? Is so how did it go overall?

It went great if you appreciate driving rates down into the ground so we can all slave for crumbs.

    FlaSwampRat Thanks this.

I am in the situation where I am having to leave the left seat and I'm looking to get the necessary training and become a home based independent freight agent working for a freight broker. Getting training isn't an issue, finding brokerages that would be willing to take on a brand new agent with no clients is another issue.

I don't know yet, I have been in PM with someone on this board out of Green Bay. I'm ready to start, just need some guidance and an opportunity, I know how to talk and I know the industry from the o/o side.

I'm in an area looking for 1-2" of rain followed by 1-3" of snow, better than the 15"+ of snow GB is expecting. I'll probably concentrate on east of I-35, but since I'm new to this, who knows. If this all works out, I'll be on here only as a freight agent instead of as a driver.

    Who do you drive for?

I'm a carrier market manager for GA in the firm I work for. Our office is in GB. Snow is fun. If it pans out the way the weather forecasters are saying it will make for good football on sunday

My daughter pointed out that Midwesterners are unique in the way we make excuses for the weather. "It's only hot when you're in the direct sun, it feels nice in the shade." "It's not really all that cold, it's just the wind makes it feel that way."

What about "it's a dry heat" from the southwest lol. Weather.... this country is huge and has many different flavors of weather. I find it hilarious when Savannah hits 40 degrees and people don't want to drive because "###### it's cold out"
