Is the money not still in YOUR pockets????
The reason for the per diem classification is so that tax is not withheld on your money up front. Instead of getting that back the following yr from the gooberment the tax is never with held on those funds up front.
The only down side I've ever seen from paying this way is that when you want to go buy a car or house your gross income doesn't look to be nearly as large as it would be if it was all "straight pay".

Actually it puts more money in your pocket by not taxing it, and you do not have to claim it at the end of the year.

Good record for me is no more than three MV in last 3 years, more than 2 preventable accidents in the last 3 years and no DUI in last 10 years.
KE5WDP Thanks this. -

Do you hire out of Florida?

Yes if you had just the two tickets, and the one accident, I would process an application. The 10/07 is about to drop any way -
Sorry we do not hire out of Florida

Hiring out of Va. Beach, Va?

The only downside? Thats huge. Working 52 weeks a year and driving 2500 miles a week and you won't even break $30,000. (income)
Not only will it affect securing loans it will also affect everything like workers comp, disability , and social security.
The per diem benefits the company way more then it does the driver.
The whole per diem thing is very confusing. And I obviously am not an expert. Just do your research and see if it works for you.
I don't know why I even hijacked this thread.. I apologize and I am done. Drive safely my friends.Last edited: Sep 24, 2010
