Could it be your mixing up the numbers? There is the gross revenue and then there is the truck revenue. From the truck revenue comes all our fixed and variable expenses, what is left is profit. You may know this but many following along have no clue.

For the year I would say 250-300K in gross revenue is a good number to use. After all the expenses you might see a third of that depending on your overhead. I was very suprised how much money there is to be made when you get into the niche areas like specialized and heavy, over sized loads. Thise guys make that 250-300k for pulling one load a month. So depending on how you look at it,six figures is more than possible for even an average driver.

Sorry I missed the part about you paying fuel and being the one who covers upkeep and repair. That dudes a tool and he must really be mising how this works. I would load your fuel and your advance if you needed one at the time I gave you your dispatch. You would get your pay minus your advance loaded to your card by me every Friday, its really not a difficult concept. Repairs if needed would be my job to get done and I would pay that bill, its my truck. You might need to pony up some cash for a headlight or something lame like that but anything big would be my call.

This whole thing really shows that even with all the drivers available how many are really going to be able to act as an O/O? Half these tools cant even do something as simple as change a head light. Being a successful O/O has little to do with driving,a monkey can drive the stinkin truck. The real key is being able to manage all aspects of the business which means wearing alot of different hats and doing alot of different jobs.

I keep saying I knew this wasnt going to be easy.

Bingo...I will tell you how i know 100% for sure, you are correct...This new dedicated run i am on is .004 miles from where i park my truck. That's correct, less than 1/2 mile.It was right under my nose and i never once seen any load on the load board or even a L/S Trailer in the area...There are HUGE PAYING loads out there and it is very very tough to find because they never ever ever reach the board...

I think you may be ''mixing'' numbers.I do not have alot of time to post.I have to go to lowes and get supplies to work on my house today.I am not looking for a pissing match and i have nothing to gain by putting false number out.

I am just defending the L/S Business Model that has saved my life in the ''trucking'' world.L/S and some of the old timer's we have here saved me in so many ways and taught me how NOT TO LIVE in a truck with nothing but my clothes. They continue to teach me how to WORK SMARTER NOT HARDER..In the end i have a very nice life that is what people call the American Dream.

Yes i am over 100,000 as of today(gross) and i only worked, maybe 5 Months...There are times when i work up towards 60 hours and times i only work 20 hours. It all depends on what the LOAD PAYS...It's kinda like watching the stock market..Some days are diamonds, some days are gold and some days are coal..I could show you loads that payed me 4,000 bucks and i only worked 2 days..

As it sits now, these runs i have are pretty much a steady diet of ''part time'' great paying runs..If i choose i can even volunteer and put the E-BABYSITTER in my truck and still do these numbers LEGAL..

I can't stress this enogh....WORK SMARTER NOT HARDER...

Sounds like a great gig if you could possibly hook to your own box and up your cut even better.

Do much better with my D/H agents for now. I have tried to hold onto a van and live load but Im just not that patient. My 5 trips for the last month have averaged 2.50 and under 20k. Not the best but its with the same agents. These agents now call or email me because they know Im on thier lanes.
