I hear ya! Hubby got laid off 2 weeks ago and can't get anyone to call him back. The classifieds used to have a lot of trucking jobs but now there are none. He even called a recruiter only to be told nobody is hiring. Over 17 years with a clean record and still nothing.
Who would of thought this would happen, I know there are many people in the same situation as us but we always thought that stuff would always have to be moved.

Attention employers: We now require a valid DOT# for anyone wishing to post a driving position. If your job offer doesn't contain a DOT number, it will not get past moderation and will not appear in the forum. The other requirements in the sticky at the top of this section are still required as well. Thank you for understanding.

IROC,
How may years does he have? If he has tanker experience, tell him to check out Keenan Advantage Group. They have a Ft. Worth terminal for their Petro Chem subsid. For hazmat, tri state motor transit is hiring teams per their website. Isn't Prime hiring teams? Also,SNI may hire teams. Please keep in mind, i am not a recruiter; only making suggestions. Let us know what happens. Finally, my fam is not fairing so well either. I left my job to pursue college full time and am looking for places too. My landlord wasn't too amused at my rent being late either.

Wow my hubby has 9 years with no incidents, i have 1.5 ish, with one incident. We've gotten calls back FFE is seeming pretty desperate they've called us like 80 times but hubby wants local and he's got a good lead on local. He has tanker, he wants to do concrete hauling in pneumatics but he's having no luck there so he's headed to Schneider local, in about a week if nothing else pans out. He seems reluctant to want to go OTR again which is a little sad, because I wanted to try our hand at Landstar when I could get a truck bought but =/
What hubby wants hubby gets I guess. Till I divorce him but who can afford that now? LOL. -
Sounds like you have options but don't like them. Reminds me of a conversation I had earlier today. Told my friend I'm selling my scuba gear. He said "are you gonna continue to dive?" I said "yeah, but 1st I plan to continue to eat." My point is - you do what you gotta do.
I thought teams were in big demand? -
Try craigslist if you haven't already...

And I just about spit crap all over my screen with your stripper comment...

Hey Camaro Girl you do rock! Checked out your profile-####! If you need to dance do it! But your old man should stay around as a body guard! I knew the life 40 years ago. Times are getting rougher. California posted 8.4 % unemployment & it's realy the same everywhere. I still need that first job! We need to send ALL ILLEGALS home. My high placed younger brother said they just take jobs no one els will do! BS- I am willing to do anything- but I can't dance! If I survive to my next birthday I am taking early retirement! Meanwhile I work on my 1951 Panhead- we need our toys! Godbless & have a merry Christmass!

i dont think ffe/ eagle/lisa are hiring rght now. i got approval from them, went to call the recruiter the next day, no answer left message to return call, did the same thjing once a day for a week straight, no return call. I would guess no return call means not hiring

Hubby is dead set on trying Schneider he thinks he can get local where a friend of his is right now. Doubt it. And if he winds up otr I will have to change the locks.

I'm hearing from fellow Werner send offs that happened about the same time as us Werner is looking to hire back on some of the drivers it let go sometime in Jan. I for one will return to Werner if they offer and nothing better pops up and we need the money (or he goes OTR without me). I loathed Schneider and refuse to work for them.
Plus the fact I will have a 379 will piss my husband off and make me happy if he winds up OTR. I prefer teaming if he is going OTR anyway.

Buddy of mine works for J+M tank lines out of Ga doing dry bulk, marble dust, cement, sand etc. etc. He tried like hell to get on with them to run local and finally did after 3 months. Got a great run, could load whenever he wanted so he'd pre-load every night so he could get off early the next day. His route payed by the load, $90 I think and he was running 2 maybe 3 loads a day. Anyway, he busted his butt to get this job and all was great for about 3 weeks. Everything was slowing down and he lost his route to a senior driver because the plants were cutting lanes big time. Alls well he figures, he'll just wait to get his new route, it can't be that bad. Thats when they have him turn in his daycab Columbia and issue him his new Columbia. Well to his horror this Columbia has a 48inch sleeper on it, can you guess the rest? He called me 3 weeks ago from Mass. and 1 week ago from Oklahoma city. My point is, tell your husband to be weary of dry bulk haulers who run local and OTR. We had local only dry bulk haulers in Ga such as Westmoreland and Sons but once the drivers got on there, I think they retired from there. Could be different in Tx, but thats what happened with my buddies dream job.
