Hi, I am looking to apply to both city and linehaul positions with SAIA. What’s the hiring process over at SAIA? Is it quick or is it a lengthy process?

    Thanks.

Can you see lightning? Can you hear thunder? Good enough, now get going,,,probably on par with any other carrier, no such thing as a "quick hire" these days.

They were real quick to hire me on but I turned them down, not sure if that was a good idea or not.

Usually it takes like a week or so ....after you put your app in... What's your location? Also did you did your research on the company? I'm assuming you don't mind cameras, like facing you cameras? If you smoke, just fyi you can't smoke in the trucks... And the list will go on and on....
    Thanks.

Applied on my phone. Got a call in acouple days. Interviewed, physical drug test, then scheduled a drive test which it’s a drive around the block. Probably 2 weeks I would guess. Pay raise recently .725 cpm $32 ish hr i believe top rate. You could probably get a sign on bonus too.

You make decent money with those guys? I turned down a position cause I'm used to being a tanker driver and hate the bid system, need seniority to make money. UPS uses that same system and it's better to work for them so why put up with that for a lesser company. That's my thinking anyway.

When you work extra-boards when you first hire on with these union companies, are you considered a full-time employee with benefits?

Not the same system. Two different animals. Non union and union are totally different when it comes to bids. Plus this is different sectors of the industry.
