The reason I decided not to go to them is because the lease guys must do exactly as the company says. My recruiter was Nancy D. and she said it was forced dispatch and you must take their routing. And you were required to only take off 1 day for every 7 out.

They hook you with 99 cent fuel plan, so in order to get the 99 cent fuel you must follow the routing and fuel stops provided. Home time is earned 1 day per week, but honestly I've never seen any held to that. Most everything I saw indicated driver took as much time as they wanted.

That's funny! I would stay out 7 weeks at a time. Four days at home they were expecting me to go back out. Since I was usually road sick I would comply.
Five days at home they thought you were quitting, lol.

Company driver you can quit and not owe them money. :)

    Meltom Thanks this.

From what I understand they dont hire company drivers anymore. Its 100% lease fleet now.

They still hire company drivers. But lease purchase drivers are being forced than company or o/o.

I went to Orientation with Hirschback over 10 years ago. Of course I'd sent in all my previous information and was pre-approved. Yet after 2 days, myself and another driver were sent packing because we'd had too many jobs over whatever the time frame was they were using. I was a notorious job jumper back then, but they did have all my information beforehand. Anyway, on my ride to the airport, the orientation gofer spilled the beans. They over hire each week by 2 or 3 drivers based on how many empty trucks they expect to have available. That's in the event a few drivers no show. That way they won't have empty trucks sitting around. Sucked flying home jobless, but I'm convinced they did me a huge favor and I'd never recommend them to another driver.

They don't send people home now if they don't have enough trucks. They'll lease trucks to place drivers. I remember a few years ago they had 5 more drivers than they had trucks. Those guys waited Friday to Monday with no word from anyone when trucks would be available before going home. Through failure Hirschbach has slowly learned what to do and what not to do. They still have a long road of learning in front of them, but I feel that they're truly interested in getting better.
