He used the word "sharecropping" but wasn't using it literally. Figure of speech

The definition of sharecropper an agricultural system where a landowner allows a tenant to use the land in exchange for a share of the crop.

Thank you for understanding that I was using it in a figurative sense to say that it is usually more profitable for the owners (Swift/Hirschbach) than the workers/tenants (the lease operator) in a sense. I should've compared it to serfdom instead. I'm not trying to go back and forth, Powder [the owner].

I did not take it in a bad way, I am bery loose with the farmer thats using my land, all done on percentages, also not a source of income but put toward the future.
Lease Op vs Co Driver has always been a big debate. O have known driver that have tried it and were ok, but also know less disaplined driver tonot do so well. I agree the company is making the profit, they are also the ones fronting the capitol for the equipment.

To lease they ask for too much pulse down payment and I think if you don’t have a truck you have to drive for them go through a bunch of things be can get on without putting money down

Just hire on as a company driver.
But if you need to go broke, buy a truck privately and then lease on w a carrier of your choice.

If you can't afford a down payment, you shouldn't lease a truck to begin with. I would recommend having at least 10k saved up before doing a lease. If you don't have that kind of money, you aren't in a position to make a financial commitment like that, regardless of how bad the market is. But since the market IS really bad right now, I strongly urge you to reconsider leasing. The freight market is the worst it has been in a long time.
