I can tell you this, as a CDL holder when driving my pov and I'm near a truck (stuck near a truck) I take notice of the company name/truck number/license number if I can just in case something happens and I'm waylayed to the shoulder and he drives off. It's a long way from the driver's seat to the last foot of the trailer and it's possible to make contact with someone and not realize it.

well she is still pretty shook up but did give me some more details. It was on I44 between Harvard and Lewis so no toll there your only luck would be a traffic cam for the city. She said she was driving in the outside lane and he passed her on the left. He merged into the right lane and about halfway down his trailer made contact with the front of her truck and went the rest of the way. It was raining but I can't remember the lighting situation on that particular stretch. She said she didn't see a name but the letters ABC on the trailer in silver lettering. She is pretty much chalking it up to letting her insurance company handle it. Several of her friends on her post were lumping all truckers as bad drivers in general. I made sure to point out to her that not all of us are like that. The thing is she said he stopped about a 1/4 mile down the road on the shoulder. She tried to catch up but her truck gave out and he took off.

Just for general information, in a lot of states the local PD handles accidents on any stretch of highway that goes through their jurisdiction. Then HP handles everything else. On the second note, she took a pretty good hit and most likely so did her memory. Is is possible that the lettering may have been SGT and not ABC?
