I wonder if that date and time stamp has been captured by archive sites that do nothing but preserve the state of the internet and it's contents every so often. Searching social media, facebook twitter storyful etc across all platforms will be useful. If you have not already install a quality HD or even 4K windshield camera to capture everything. Some trucks you can hang a number of cameras as some you tubers do for good video. Im hoping you have full coverage insurance. Including Civil Liability It's only a few dollars a month and will defend you in the civil court against a inevitable lawsuit demanding to drain everything you have built and entire future. (Ive been sued twice in my time, shook em off. One was a settlement enforced by the judge and the other was laughed off as a employee combination fraud, drug seeking etc.
Those cameras record for sure. They just dont want to use it for less important crimes. Somebody hit to my old car and ran, i called dot and got the same answer. On the other hand my lawyer friend asked one of his buddies and came back with the 20 second recording of the accident. It happened in texas as well. This was 2008 and lot changed after that but im pretty sure they are still recording and im sure they wont spend all that money on surveillance just for the live feed.
Was gonna say, those cams must be the only ones that DON'T record. The news are always getting footage from traffic cams for various accidents and police chases. Maybe some smaller ones can't afford to record at all, or keep them for a certain amount of time. What does your insurance company say though? This should really be their row to hoe.
They are contacting DART and will work with the police investigator as soon as one is assigned. I am also reaching out to a friend that works for TXDOT find out the real story on the cameras.
Dartco is the company side of Dart right? They have a terminal about 20 miles east of the accident location off I20.
I would imagine he's looking to get his car fixed or replaced by the person/company responsible for the crash, as well as pushing for criminal charges for the driver for fleeing the scene.
