I'll admit, I have been to Barstow a FEW times --- but I dwell in Corona -- where Hwy 91 and I-15 interchange -- and the traffic stagnates. :biggrin_25525:

I nailed a big 'ol buck in North Platte,NE while driving a FL Century. He ran across from the westbound lanes and I caught him with left front corner of truck. What a Mess!!!Tore out the entire left side of truck including the skirt covering fuel tanks.I had to get out of truck from passenger side.Shoved the radiator/fan into the engine plus a bunch of other stuff, ripped out air lines under the trailer. Had to get towed to FL dealer in Lincoln for repairs.Sat for 3 days in a jacuzzi room at one of the local hotels (courtesy of my co.)It was the only room available:biggrin_25525:I was out on side of road barfing (from the smell) while waiting for tow truck. Tow driver shows up and he was gagging the whole time he was trying to hook up to my truck.Get to FL in Lincoln and the guys had to steam clean everything before they could get it close enough to shop to work on it. I had deer splattered all over that truck because some of it went under the truck and some went over on to the hood/windshield and down the left side of truck. There was deer splashed all the way up to the window on top of bunk. It was almost like hitting a wall of Jell-o

I was taught to aim for a deer if it was running across the road, because by the time you would hit it, it would be gone. Unless of course, it was running at you.

    Works MOST of the time.:biggrin_25512:

I hit a rather large turtle the other day on I-57 in Il. I saw it but didn't move and I hit it with every tire on the driver's side. there was a little bit of gore on the truck that i had to clean off but thats about all i have hit so far.

A deer gets hit. Moose and bison are a different story... :biggrin_2554:

Over the last 4 years I have hit right at a dozen deer. None my first year but the rest over the last 3 years. Drive local at night on mostly back roads here in Illiniois. They always come out of nowhere and its too late before you hit them.

The damage is always bent bumpers or broken grilles, never had worse. Well one time my bumper got pushed into my #2 tire and I just kept going, got to the consignee and noticed the bumper peeled the tread right off the tire like peeling an apple.

Here in Oregon they are studying a new law that would require the deer to cross only where the state has posted those "Deer X ing" signs. :biggrin_25525::biggrin_25525: Not quite sure how that training program will work tho' .....................................

I almost nailed one a couple weeks ago between Hood River and The Dalles. He was already turned to get off the road before I got to him, so I just missed him. My heart was a-pounding though, and I was wide awake after that. I did have to stop in The Dalles to check my shorts though, LOL.
